Why should I continue the recruitment process during lockdown?
We always like to look for the silver lining and the nationwide lockdown presents a unique opportunity to pick the gems that are in high demand under normal circumstances because your competitors may have decided to slow down their recruitment during this lockdown period. Use this time wisely.
Twenty one days go by very quickly. Once we come out on the other side, you will already have the right people in process to join your dynamic team. Keeping in mind that many candidates have notice periods up to 1 or even 2 calendar months; postponing the process could result in new starters only “on-boarding” as late as June 2020. How would that impact your team’s/companies goals?
It makes sense to use this quieter time to focus on recruitment so once lockdown lifts and things get manic again; you’ve already got your recruit in place and you can devote 100% of your time to your core business. Use this time productively and get vital team members to hit the ground running once lockdown is over.
Candidates are more likely to be available for interviews during this time and will find it easier to attend interviews as they won’t necessarily need to take time off from work and they won’t be travelling to interviews. Zoom/Skype is a far simpler way to interview and there is no risk.
It is important that you don’t lose your own rhythm as a business. If you delay your process, you will be at least 3 weeks behind once lockdown lifts. Don’t let this situation delay your process unnecessarily as this lag in time might last for the rest of the year. Make the most of your time and do your Zoom interviews.
